SAE Institute student Gary McLellan has been appointed the next Deputy Director of the Glasgow Filmmakers Alliance.

McLellan, who currently studies Digital Film Production at the Institute’s Glasgow campus, will take over from Chris Quick who was appointed director in May.

The Glasgow Filmmakers Alliance is an online database of Film & Television professionals working in and around the city of Glasgow.

Speaking of his appointment, McLellan said: “Considering the growing potential of filmmaking in Scotland now and in the near future, this is an opportunity to be making the most of the wealth of talent that this country has to offer, both in front and behind the camera. I’m excited to lend a hand in bringing Glasgow Filmmakers Alliance forward alongside Chris, seeing what we can do to help make bringing creatives together as simply as possible.”

Chris Quick, the incoming Director of the Glasgow Filmmakers Alliance said: “It’s a pleasure to be bringing Gary on board the GFA team. He shows tremendous enthusiasm for his craft and is the ideal candidate to support us with the expansion of the organisation to further serve the needs of our industry colleagues.

Since 2018, McLellan has co hosted the Reel Filthy Podcast with Harry “Sam” Sambrook discussing their likes and dislikes about past and present movies.

McLellan will take up the position on 1 July 2019.
